2015 Laroche La Chevaliere Cabernet
“La Chevalière,” or “the knight’s lady,” is a reference to “Mas La Chevalière” which is literally the “farmhouse of the knight’s lady,” the Laroche winery in southern France where this wine is produced.
“The story of Mas la Chevalière is about exceptional terroirs. It all started with the discovery of two vineyards Peyroli and Roqua Blanca. Peyroli was planted at the end of the 1980s on a clay-limestone soil at an altitude of 400 m. The whole vineyard is dedicated to Chardonnay. Thanks to a cool microclimate, this place is made for great white wines. Roqua Blanca is divided into a number of small plots, like a mosaic, and is perfect for black varieties. Altitude, soil composition and exposure make a perfect balance to the climate of the region.
“Dark ruby color. Intense nose offering pungent black currant and subtle herbal tones. Intense fruit concentration laced with developed tannic structure; good intensity and nice juicy mouthfeel.”
