2017 Domaine d’Eole Rosé
Alright all you Bandol fanatics out there, this one’s for you. No, it’s not directly from Bandol, but it is from Aix-en-Provence, and gosh darn it, to my palate it drinks like Bandol. Meaning? That wonderful grapefruit, orange zest and red cherry Pinot Noir-like smell exploding from the glass. The palate is seamless and weighty, but full of verve. Another one that drinks red but chills white. Here the long, lingering finish is just amazing — lasting nearly a minute, this is a main event performance for Rosé. Yep, it makes an amazing cocktail, but don’t miss trying it with grilled sea bass stuffed with rosemary, or wood plank-roasted scallops, or maybe better still, slowly braised leg of lamb over garlic potato puree.
