2017 Emonin Meursault
Jehan Emonin label is the ancestral label of the outstanding Domaine Vincent Bourzerau. They created this label to avoid some importing challenges into the U.S. Same wine as that domaine, just different label, and much more pocketbook-friendly prices. The Bouzerau family settled in Meursault in the 16th century and the current winemaker’s (Vincent’s) grandfather was Jehan Emonin. As you might guess, they also make scrumptious Meursault:
The 2017 Meursault is right in prime form now. Yellow stone fruits – apricot, peach, yellow plum and white flowers are all back by a gorgeous mineral chalky note. The palate is full flavored and round but not unctuous, and certainly has great tension. It offers up Chardonnay’s classic touch of smoky-spicy on the mid palate backed up by compact muscle and driving fruit energy. A beautiful Meursault, it is the pride and joy of the estate.
