A Night with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a Master Sommelier

Elusive, delicate, profound … silky, supple, complex. These are just a few of the words used to describe Pinot Noir.

Chardonnay – a chameleon that can be powerful, oaked, and full-bodied, or crisp, bright and fresh. Either way, it’s often considered the most significant white grape in the wine world.

These two beguiling varieties share a genetic heritage, and they also share the conditions in which they grow best. But those growing conditions also change them, making them into something more than just a grape variety. They adapt and develop into terroir driven wines.

Presented by Master Sommelier Thomas Price, this tasting explores the fascinating world of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay through the lens of the West Coast of the United States. We will study the major terroirs of Chard and Pinot: Russian River, Oregon, and the Santa Rita Hills.

In Thomas’s more than three decades in the restaurant industry, he has held positions from dishwasher to lead cook, waiter to owner, and bartender to wine director and sommelier. He obtained his Master Sommelier certification in 2012 and joined Jackson Family Wines in February 2014. As National Wine Educator, Thomas dedicates himself to sharing his passion for wine with guests and friends, one bottle at a time.
