Marcarini Barolo La Serra 2017

Winery notes:

“100% Nebbiolo. Marcarini Barolo “La Serra” DOCG is garnet in color with slight orange reflections, a shade or two deeper than the Brunate; the bouquet is typical of the La Serra cru, floral (rose and violet petals, mountain flowers), ethereal, appealing and intense; dry, full and sturdy on the palate, austere yet velvety, extremely well balanced.

“Classic is a keyword in the Marcarini philosophy. Ideally poised between traditional and modern, the wines are characterized by both a voluptuous, embracing style and the superb longevity and blockbuster structure of Piedmont’s best.”

Critical Acclaim:

“97 points.

“So much ash and dried-strawberry character. Burnt orange-peel undertones. Tar, too. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Lots of rose petals. This needs four or five years to open, but nicely integrated now.”
