New Zealand cut its winemaking teeth and gained worldwide fame with Sauvignon Blanc.  Now new producers are pushing the boundaries and seeking recognition with other varieties and a larger range of styles.  Chardonnay may find yet another home on the island’s shores.  Cool-climate Gewurztraminers and Rieslings and Bordeaux-style blends keep climbing in quality.  And finally, what may be NZ’s crowning glory – Pinot Noir –  is coming of age.
