Brunello – the legendary wine of Tuscany produced in only the greatest of vintages with a longevity not shorter than a human lifespan.  An almost mystical level of romance surrounds Brunello and its commanding price tags.

Yet for all the romance, what makes Brunello, Brunello?  Particularly in light of changing winemaking styles, the enormous number of new wineries within the region, and the controversial changing / opening up of alternative DOCG laws within the region of Brunello?

This tasting explores all of these aspects and more.  Our first flight examines the differences among Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino and the Rosso Sant’ Antimo DOCs.  We continue in the second flight by exploring the four major regions of Brunello and how their soil types and microclimates affect the flavors of the wines.  Finally, we explore the difference between winemaking styles within Brunello, while also sampling a Brunello Riserva.

Nine Brunellos in one evening – who doesn’t want that?

Wines to be announced.  But you know it’s going to be epic.
