For football fans, it’s the Super Bowl. For baseball buffs, it’s the World Series. For soccer enthusiasts, it’s the World Cup.

For us, it’s Saturday, November 17 from noon until 5 pm at Milwaukee Yacht Club. It’s what we prepare all year for. It’s what we anticipate every day.

It’s our Burgundy Festival.

We curate the Waterford Wine Burgundy Festival to provide you with 50 of the best wines from the most fabled wine region in the world. Our Festival is Burgundy from north to south and east to west, from the Grand Crus of legendary, old domaines to the lieux-dits of gifted, young winemakers.

If you’re collecting wine for your cellar, our Burgundy Festival is a rare and civilized exploration into the mysterious heart of Burgundy, the right and proper way to discern and divine the region’s wines before investing in them.

If you’re prospecting for extraordinary wine experiences, our Burgundy Festival is an otherworldly journey to the fruits of paradise, a chance to reap the rewards Burgundy holds for you.

Why is Burgundy sui generis? The truth for us is this: Burgundy will change your life.

Ever since the Medieval Cistercian and Benedictine monks of the region conceived of the wine, Burgundy has had hypnotic powers over people. Even the least secular of us. In late 1367, the great humanist Petrarch wrote a letter to Urban V soon after the Pope had moved the papacy from Avignon back to Rome. Petrarch had heard Urban’s cardinals felt deprived in Italy, and that they wanted Urban to return the papacy to Avignon “because it brings them the wine of Burgundy, which they regard as the fifth of the natural elements [after earth, air, water, and fire] . . . . It has come to be exalted by these people, and placed almost on a level with the nectar of the gods.”

If you like wine, our Burgundy Festival pledges you pleasures of paradise. And if you like Burgundy, our Festival promises you paroxysms of pleasure.
