Ask any Scotch Master Distiller and they’ll tell you – at least 70% of the flavor of Scotch comes from the barrel. So what of it? How does alcohol work to solve out compounds from oak to change the flavor of our Scotch? And what happens if we switch types of oak, or different oak shapes, or abandon oak altogether in favor some other wood? Or further still – take an oak barrel and mature something else in it first, and then rack our beloved Scotch into the barrel?

All of this is complex science, but it’s all knowable as well. And the best way to know – via tasting. At this tasting, we’ll assemble a selection of Scotches to take us through the effects that a barrel brings to our imbibing pleasure.

Scotch to be tasted:

TBA, but there will be nine great selections!
