Around the world, winemakers are creating a new breed of Syrah and Shiraz. These new Syrahs reflect on Syrah’s birthplace: the Northern Rhone, which produces wines of elegance, structure, ageability, and of course, profound drinking enjoyment.
But what is most engaging about these new Syrahs is just how much
terroir the grape is capable of revealing. Planted in the right climates, made by respectful winemakers, Syrah is experiencing a glorious worldwide explosion of dynamic wine production.
Yet. for all its cool-climate character, Syrah also remains a chameleon, adapting with aplomb to varied climes.. Certainly, no exploration of Syrah wouldn’t be complete with tasting as many of these Syrahs and Aussie Shirazes as we can.

Jim Barry Lodge Hill $19.99
Richard Perry Napa Valley $34.99
