Get to Know This Product

Altamura has always lived just outside the glare of Napa’s cult spotlight—and that’s precisely the appeal. This is Cabernet Sauvignon for people who love the depth, structure and authority of the valley’s most coveted bottles but prefer discovery over spectacle. If you admire the great names of Napa Cabernet, this is a chance to drink in that same register at a fraction of the price.

The 2019 Altamura Cabernet Sauvignon is shaped by patience and restraint, spending nearly three years in barrel before release. Lisa Perrotti-Brown of The Wine Independent awarded it 96 points, noting its deep garnet-purple color and layers of tree bark, black truffle, dried herbs, Indian spice and stewed plum—an aromatic spectrum that moves from savory to darkly fruited. The palate is refined, with red-berry lift threading through dense black fruit, plush tannins and a finish that lingers with mineral clarity and freshness.

Frank Altamura and his wife Karen founded Altamura Vineyards in 1985. Napa Valley natives, they chose Wooden Valley Road—an eastern edge of the valley prized for elevation and structure—as the home of Altamura Ranch. Here, estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon (alongside a rare Napa Sangiovese) is farmed and produced with a notably old-world sense of intention. The result is Cabernet that prizes texture, balance and longevity over excess—richly layered, collectible and unmistakably Napa, but without the pomp and flash.

Altamura remains one of the Valley’s great under-the-radar treasures. Once you’ve tasted it, you'll marvel at how it has stayed that way for so long. And at this price, you can load up!

Critical acclaim:

"96 points. The single-varietal Altamura 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for nearly 3 years in barrel, is deep garnet-purple in color. It opens with earthy/savory notions of tree bark, black truffle, dried herbs, and Indian spices leading to a core of stewed plums, redcurrant jelly, and boysenberries plus nuances of tobacco leaf, dried mint, and fallen leaves. The medium to full-bodied palate is fantastically elegant and refined, with red berry sparks lifting the dense black fruits supported by plush tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and minerally. This is impressive!." - The Wine Independent
