Julieann Fernandez took a path into whisky that few could have predicted. After earning a degree in forensic science, she assumed her future lay in a crime lab — until a university placement drew her instead into the sensory world of Scotch whisky. The analytical precision her training demanded turned out to be exactly the skill set that makes a great blender, and she never looked back.

She honed her craft at Chivas Brothers before joining the group that oversees Bunnahabhain, Deanston, and Tobermory. By her early thirties she had been appointed Master Blender — one of the youngest people in the world to hold that title — and went on to win the Icons of Whisky Master Blender Award for Scotland at the World Whisky Awards. In a remarkable stretch of creative output, she masterminded over twenty-five limited-edition expressions across the portfolio, each one a precise exercise in matching distillate character to cask.

This evening, Julieann will guide us through seven expressions drawn from the distilleries she knows most intimately — sharing the philosophy behind each whisky, the cask decisions that shaped it, and the stories only the person who made it can tell.
