WW&S 20th Anniversary Series: Domaine Leflaive, At the Apex of Puligny-Montrachet - Milwaukee

Twenty years ago, Waterford Wine & Spirits opened its doors with a simple, ambitious belief: that Wisconsin deserved access to the world’s great wines, not as distant trophies but as living, shareable experiences. Two decades later, that belief has grown into a community built around curiosity, trust and the joy of discovery.

To mark our 20th anniversary, we’re doing what we love most: welcoming some of the world’s most revered wineries and putting them right where they belong — at the tasting table with you.

This is more than a standard wine tasting. It’s a rare chance to examine Domaine Leflaive’s greatest vineyards, side by side in a full horizontal of the domaine’s top wines. Tasted together, they show Puligny-Montrachet in unusually complete fashion: each climat offering its own mix of limestone, light and restraint, each glassful sharpening the next through contrast and counterpoint.

Wines like these are usually encountered in rare, delightful one-offs, on their own, and years apart. Here, they are aligned for a single, remarkable evening!

In one flight after another, Leflaive’s wines lay out the fine distinctions that define greatness in Burgundy — one slope bringing more tension, another more breadth, another a more meditative calm. The domaine’s style is constant: biodynamic farming, and a kind of luminous precision that keeps terroir front and center. Within this frame, the differences are striking ... variations on a theme from Puligny’s most celebrated hillsides.
