Cabernet Franc shows itself in cool-toned layers of blackcurrant leaf and crushed blackberry, edged by pencil shavings, damp cellar stone, and a faint echo of green peppercorn rather than overt pyrazine. The palate is taut and architectural—red and black fruit held in check by savory mineral tension—unfurling notes of iron filings, clove, and dried bay as it moves. Tannins feel fine-grained and tensile, more like woven linen than grip, with acidity that keeps everything lifted and precise. Condensed, serious, and still coiled, this feels less about immediacy than about Chinon’s long, limestone-etched memory.
