Get to Know This Product

A couple years ago, we got a fantastic deal on a whiskey from Buffalo Chip Bourbon, based in Nashville. It quickly became one of our best selling whiskey offers of all time, and to this day people still rave about how much they enjoyed it. If you've been waiting for it to return, you're in luck - today we have an amazing deal on the best bourbon that Buffalo Chip produces.

Woody's Reserve Bourbon is blended from aged barrels sourced from MGP in Lawrenceburg, IN - home to the largest stockpile of aged Bourbon in the world. The lion's share of this blend is coming from 7 year Bourbon, and you can taste the richness and complexity that comes from aged whiskey.

The nose kicks off with a rich wave of butterscotch and caramelized sugar, setting the stage for the bold yet inviting dram to come. Hints of toasted oak and spice emerge, adding depth and intrigue. On the palate, this whiskey rides smooth and full-bodied, where the sweetness of one heavily wheated bourbon meets the spice of another high-rye bourbon; both bourbons aged seven years. Layers of toffee, dark honey, and warm vanilla unfold, balanced by a sturdy backbone of oak and a subtle touch of dark cherry. The finish lingers long and satisfying, as charred oak, vanilla bean, and a whisper of baking spice leave a lasting impression—like the warmth of a sunset ride through the Black Hills.

If you're curious about the name,  in the early 1900s, a group of farmers in Bardstown, Kentucky, decided to use heirloom corn to make bourbon. They called their bourbon "Buffalo Chip Bourbon," after the buffalo chips that were used to fuel the fires in their stills.

Buffalo Chip quickly became a favorite among bourbon drinkers. It was known for its smooth flavor and its deep, rich color. It was even served by the Eisenhower administration at the White House. Unfortunately, Buffalo Chip Bourbon fell victim to the challenges facing the bourbon industry in the mid 20th century and ceased operations.

In 2019, a group of friends partnered with the owners of the Buffalo Chip bar in Sturgis, SD, to bring the bourbon back to life. Working with some of the best whiskey sources in the country, they are blending and bottling themselves, ensuring the original character is preserved.

We loved this bourbon on taste alone, but when we were able to get an amazing price on it, we bought all we could, which is how we're able to offer you such a great deal.   If you like richer, smoother bourbons, it is sure to delight! But don't wait, we're not sure if Buffalo Chip Bourbon will be available in Wisconsin again, so once our stockpile is gone, it could be gone for good.
