The nose leans into ripe black cherry, macerated plum, and blackberry compote, framed by sweet spice, cocoa powder, vanilla pod, and a clear sheen of new oak. On the palate, the fruit comes across as generous and dark-toned, with a glycerol richness and a glossy, almost creamy midweight texture, the élevage contributing notes of toasted hazelnut, clove, and faint espresso. There’s plenty of concentration and drive beneath the polish, with firm, young tannins and a backbone of savory earth and iron keeping things anchored. Clearly built in a richer, oak-forward register, yet balanced enough to promise greater nuance as the wood integrates and the fruit tones down with time.
