Il Molino di Grace’s Margone 2021 feels like Chianti Classico spoken in a lower, steadier register—less flash, more authority. Sangiovese drawn from a single, high-lying vineyard in Panzano carries the stamp of elevation and patience: tart black cherry and dried sour plum lead, followed by crushed rosemary, iron filings, and a faint dusting of cocoa nib. The palate is firm but unforced, its tannins granular and savory, pulling the wine long rather than wide. There’s a cool, stony undercurrent throughout—galestro and air—ending on notes of blood orange peel and tea leaf.
