Winery notes:

"The flagship of the Domaine du Pegau, the Cuvée Réservée represents the Domaine over the years. A blend of 13 grape varieties, mainly Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, the Cuvée Réservée reveals the typical characteristics of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape soils.

"Black ripe fruits like morello cherries and raspberries, juniper berries, black pepper and garrigue. After several years ageing, the aromas will be characterised by plums, dried stone fruits, leaher, fur and sandalwood. Round, rich and powerful with soft tannins. With time, it will evolve into a more complex and spicy wine."

Critical acclaim:

"98 points.  I was even more impressed by the 2020 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Réservée than the 2019. Boasting crazily complex floral scents, garrigue, raspberries and cherries, this is one incredibly perfumed example of Pegau. Medium to full-bodied, silky, elegant and long, this is quintessential Pegau. My tastings during my evening visit to Domaine du Pegau included a number of other wines, both from Chateau Pegau and Selection Laurence Feraud. Those will be included in my follow-up coverage of other appellations of the Southern Rhône. For this report, I've focused on the current and upcoming releases from the property itself." - Wine Advocate

"Dark red robe; the bouquet has a beef stock, plunging aroma, is stoked up from within, bears a pine, slight varnish take, grilling, is raw goods, the fruit not yet fully formed. The palate is vigorous, heart on its sleeve in style, doesn’t do restraint or subtle, comes forward with a burst of briar, garrigue-filled content, an inset of cooked plums from the Grenache, a channel of menthol on the aftertaste. This is a genuine, heartlands Châteauneuf, arresting via its live hound dog attributes, is broad and brimming. Woof woof! From 2025, decant it. 2048-50 Oct 2021." - John Livingstone
