Alessandro and his father, Fabrizio Bindocci, craft the wines of Il Poggione in Sant’Angelo in Colle, in the southern Brunello di Montalcino zone. Founded in the late 1800s and a founding member of the Brunello Consorzio in 1967, Il Poggione has built its reputation on tradition and consistency. While many producers in past decades turned to small barrels for a riper, spicier style, the Bindoccis—along with owner Leopoldo Franceschi—have stayed true to large casks (grandi botti).
