2021 Famille Richel Mondeuse Paradoxe carries its Alpine origins with quiet authority. The nose opens on dark cherry and wild blackberry, lifted by violet, cracked black pepper, and a cool note of forest undergrowth, with a faint touch of licorice trailing behind. On the palate it’s taut and vivid, driven by sour cherry and tart cranberry, brisk acidity, and firm, gripping tannins that give the wine its nervy, savory edge and distinctly Savoie sense of place.
