Winery notes:
The Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is where it all began. In 1971 this was the first vineyard planted in what became the world-class, cool-climate Sta. Rita Hills appellation. This iconic vineyard now contains the oldest Pinot Noir vines in Santa Barbara County. Our 2020 Pinot Noir from Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is deep, beautifully layered and nuanced. Red Hots, forest floor, white pepper, and chanterelles all grace this spicy and sensual wine. The palate delivers earthy, spicy red berry flavors with a suave texture and well endowed finish. This wine is delicious now yet has the balance and structure to age gracefully for some time, and is a natural for richer fish dishes, roast chicken and even game.
Critical acclaim:
"95 points. Aged in 28% new French oak, the 2017 Pinot Noir La Rinconada Estate is slightly deeper ruby/plum-colored and gives up lots of mulberry and black raspberry fruits as well as sappy flowers, forest floor, and plenty of salinity and subtle marine-like notes. It's medium to full-bodied, has an elegant, seamless texture, beautiful purity, and a great finish. It's impressive!" - Jeb Dunnuck
